ABOUT

Alyson Ainsworth is a New York City-based weaver. Using unconventional materials, hand-applied techniques, and experimental loom systems, she explores how weave structure and materials can be manipulated into new woven shapes and forms. She investigates ways of visually disrupting the conventional woven grid formed by the warp and weft by crossing, connecting and bisecting yarns across the weaving field, sometimes breaking them apart altogether.

Alyson graduated from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with a BFA in Textiles. She is also currently the Design Director at Chilewich.
